Antioxidants:
Cacao contains high levels of antioxidants, specifically phenols, which fight the free radicals that can harm body tissue. Per ounce, chocolate has more antioxidants than fruits, vegetables, tea or wine.
1.5 oz of dark chocolate contains as much antioxidants as 5 oz. of red wine.
Higher cacao content means higher antioxidants. Dark chocolate has twice the antioxidants of milk chocolate. Cacao powder has almost twice the antioxidants of dark chocolate.
