The tread of your special belt bears the scars of every mile, every skid, and

Slick belts are made from back tires, which work harder and carry more weight and are more
threadbare. Semi-Slick belts are made from front tires, which get less wear, so still have plenty of tread left.

Velo-Re was started by Christian Baumgartner, who made the original re-tired belts, after having been involved in a bicycle recycling project in Berne for years came up with the idea to reuse all of the old tires. Looking at old tires, with their scars and bruises, Christian came up with the idea to make belts out of them.
